More Than Real Estate:
How REALTORS® Continue Giving Back Across North Texas
May 29, 2026
Most people associate REALTORS® with buying and selling homes — scheduling showings, negotiating contracts, and helping clients navigate major financial decisions.
But throughout North Texas, many REALTORS® are making an impact that goes well beyond real estate transactions.
Across the MetroTex region, real estate professionals are actively involved in their communities through volunteer work, fundraising, mentorship programs, advocacy efforts, and local outreach initiatives. From Dallas and Fort Worth to Denton, Collin County, Ellis County, and neighboring communities, REALTORS® continue finding ways to support the people and neighborhoods around them.
For many agents, serving the community is simply part of who they are.
Through organizations like the MetroTex Association of REALTORS® and North Texas REALTORS® in Action, members regularly dedicate their time and resources to projects that help strengthen local communities and improve the lives of North Texas families.
These initiatives often focus on areas such as:
- Affordable and stable housing
- Community revitalization
- Homeless outreach programs
- Hunger relief efforts
- Educational support
- Disaster assistance
- Family and community services
Outside of organized programs, many REALTORS® also contribute independently by volunteering with nonprofits, mentoring students, supporting local schools, coaching youth teams, organizing donation drives, and helping community organizations expand their reach.
Much of this work happens quietly, without much public attention, but the impact can be felt throughout the region.
Honoring REALTORS® Who Make a Difference
MetroTex continues highlighting members whose dedication to community service reflects the values of the REALTOR® profession.
One of those members is Jennifer Parker, who received the 2025 Christy Black Volunteer of the Year Award. She established the Abigail Parker Memorial Endowment at Texas State University in memory of her daughter. By 2025, the fund had grown beyond $26,000 and continues supporting future educators through scholarship opportunities.
Another recognized member, Marlo Dell’Aquila, earned the MetroTex Community Service Award after contributing more than 300 volunteer hours to organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association and Dallas Pets Alive!. Her work has helped raise awareness for Alzheimer’s research while also supporting pet rescue and adoption programs throughout Dallas.
Stories like these represent the larger spirit of service shared by REALTORS® across North Texas.
Opportunities to Get Involved
For REALTORS® wanting to become more active in community outreach, there are many organizations throughout the DFW area focused on housing support and neighborhood improvement that regularly welcome volunteers.
Some organizations include:
- Habitat for Humanity Dallas
- Habitat for Humanity Fort Worth
- Housing Forward
REALTOR® Volunteer Days and Community Impact
Each year, REALTORS® across the country also participate in REALTOR® Volunteer Days, a national initiative led by the National Association of REALTORS®. The program encourages real estate professionals to volunteer in projects that support housing, neighborhoods, and local communities.
The initiative highlights an important truth: REALTORS® help communities not only through homeownership, but also through direct service and local involvement.
As North Texas continues growing and evolving, REALTORS® remain closely connected to the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the region. Their involvement naturally extends beyond the closing table into leadership, advocacy, and community support.
Whether they are helping build homes, supporting nonprofits, mentoring young people, or working to strengthen neighborhoods, REALTORS® across North Texas continue making a lasting difference.
Because in North Texas, REALTORS® are not just real estate professionals.
They are neighbors, leaders, volunteers, and active members of the communities they serve.
